The Test Laboratory for Combustion Systems is one of the leading laboratories for fuel characterization, testing of small as well as large-scale combustion systems and measurements of gaseous emissions in Austria. Though based on a long tradition, its activities have always been adapted to clients' needs . The laboratory is accredited for its main activities and has established a quality management system according to ÖVE/ÖNORM EN ISO/IEC 17025.

One of the current main focusses is renewable energy, especially biomass and biofuels. Besides fuel analysis and measurements for classical biomass conversion technologies such as combustion, gasification and pyrolysis are of main interest. New measurement techniques for these technologies are under development.
